Chino Hills Hiking

Jeff is pretty familiar with the trails in Chino Hills State Park.  For awhile he’s been wanting to take me hiking.  Monday was open so we headed out after breakfast.

We started on the Chino Hills side and made the steep climb in.  As soon as it began to level off, Jeff turned to the left to go up a trail.

The hike up wasn’t too bad and the view was nice.  On the way down we passed Jeff’s nemesis.  Thankfully we made it by without any issues.  The count is now Jeff 1, Cactus 1

On our way out of the park, Jeff spotted a hole with something interesting inside.

See it?  Maybe now?

Yep, that would be a rattlesnake.  In fact, 2 rattlesnakes.

I about nearly lost my mind when Jeff asked for a stick.

Hurricane of Heroic Hope

I have almost cried no less than 3 times today.

1.  One of my work friends told me she was pregnant.  Nothing like knowing a little miracle is on it’s way.  #cuethewaterworks

2.  I was trying to find the “naked zombie” story on yahoo and came across a story about a recent Yale graduate who died in a car crash.  She wrote a story for her paper that gained a lot of attention after her death.  After commencement I was so excited for the possibilities of life.  Knowing she no longer has the opportunity to experience that is so sad.  #andyesnakedzombiesdoexist

3.  Jeff and I were watching Restaurant Impossible and an old 2011 episode was on.  It was about an 80 year old woman who runs a soup kitchen, had a broken arm but was still cooking in her crap kitchen.  Robert Irvine came in to redo the kitchen so it would better serve those in need.  The mayor came out to check on the project and called Chef Irvine a Hurricane of Heroic Hope.  He went into that rundown kitchen and in two days made some major changes to continue to feed those that were hungry.  #imanemotionalwreck

Jeff and I went for a hike yesterday and he didn’t leave me on the trail!  Pictures to come.  Smile

A Memorial “Barbie Cube”

Happy Memorial Day!

IMG_0194

Yesterday we celebrated the holiday with family and food.  What was on the menu?  If you asked Hailey a “barbie cube”.  Don’t worry, no barbies were harmed in the making of our meal.

Jeff barbequed some chicken and made some potato salad to go with it.  After lunch the girls danced to some chipmunks while Noelle did something.  Hmm…

Crystal made dessert – vanilla yogurt with fruit in a waffle cone.  This was really good.  The pineapple was sweet and paired well with the yogurt!

The nieces enjoyed it as well.  Smile

And how we finished our day…the girls pile on top me to play on my phone.  I’m no match against 3 young girls.

Thank you to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country!

Guess Which One…

…I folded.

Yep, the top one.  And the husband did the bottom.  Obviously one of us is more domesticated. #notmadetodolaundry

The Tour, Fido and Food

While Jeff and I were picking up our car on Thursday, we noticed the dealership had VIP tickets out for their customers.  The VIP event – A Pet Expo and Food Truck Event at the Ontario Convention Center.  We grabbed enough tickets for everyone and then planned out our day.

It just so happened that the Tour De California was starting at the convention center only an hour after the expo started.  The tour is an 8 day/leg event that starts up north in San Francisco and ends down here in LA.  Today’s leg started in Ontario and ended in Mt. Baldy.  We got there right as it was opening and walked over to the Tour’s set up.

Right before the bikers started I looked left and realized that the street was packed!  There were so many people here and Jeff said it was still nothing compared to what the finish line would look like.

IMG_0172

And then they were off!

After the bikers made their start, we walked through the Expo outside and stopped to eat at some of the food trucks.  They had this huge pool that dogs were taking turns jumping in to catch toys being thrown.

We tried some chicken fry bread and then Shannon and I split some lobster ceviche from the below truck.

After a few snacks we headed into the indoors portion of the expo.  It was pretty small (and smelled like dog) but they had some cool stuff.  One of the booths was a wolf group that had baby wolves.

IMG_0175

And an adult wolf.  He was so good, and kids were even allowed to pet it.

IMG_0176

After making our rounds, we headed back out for one more snack.  Shannon and I got cupcakes from the cupcake truck and Jeff got a Cuban sandwich from another truck.

Oh, yeah – those VIP tickets, we never even had to pull them out.  The entire event was free admission.  Way to make it seem like you were “special”.

Move over Jeff, there’s another TV star in the family!

Remember when the husband made it onto TV?

Well he’s not the only one now.  My SIL went to the Ellen Show taping yesterday and scored some pretty good air time!  See her with her hands up?

IMG_0154

It’s a signature move.

IMG_0158

Check out her dance skills.  Girls got moves!  And her dress is cute too!!  Winking smile

She’s stopped taking her own calls.  Hailey scans all of them now.  Winking smile

the rejects

Yesterday we made the drive up to Crestline to have lunch with Jeff’s mom.  We decided to head out to Lake Gregory and ate at Papagayos.  We were originally at the patio and had the view below…

IMG_0145

But then we realized they only served tacos and chips & salsa outside.  Since we were a little hungry for more than tacos, we ended up eating inside.

We walked around for a bit and then headed back to Libby’s to say goodbye and head down the mountain.

In other news, below are our paint rejects.

IMG_0147

Some of those colors would have really looked nice if we didn’t have the floor/cabinet/granite combo that we do.  But since they didn’t really compliment our existing décor, they were out.

And now for the remaining samples…

Grey it will be!

Happy Mother’s Day

To my mom and Chloe’s fur-grandma, thank you for everything.  Wish you were here so you could have pushed me on my crummy run this morning.  I love you!!

IMG_0550

(Doesn’t Hailey look so cute?)

While my mom is far, thankfully Jeff’s mom is closer.  We are off to celebrate Mother’s Day with the MIL.  Me thinks lunch and some shopping is in order!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, mom’s to be, and fur mom’s out there!

Running Errands

All day long Jeff and I (and Chloe) have been running errands.  First up, Chloe and I had to go to the vet.  She had a bump on her back that we wanted to get checked out – thankfully they just think it was a cyst, so she is fine.

IMG_0141

Then we headed over to BBB and Philly’s Best for some lunch.  We made a pit stop at Shannon’s to help her with something and then ended our day saying hi to these two gals.

IMG_0143

A special shout out to our baby niece.  #getwellsoon

21 swatches of paint on the wall

This is it.  I feel it.

IMG_0137

We have 21 samples taped up to our wall.  I’m already instantly liking some more than others.  Hopefully Jeff and I can come to an agreement on 2 or 3 colors to buy actual paint samples for.

IMG_0139

Hopefully by June we have a color.  Shannon, get ready to help paint!!

I will neither confirm nor deny

This past weekend, Jeff showed me the below picture.

I have decided to plead the 5th in regards to the accuracy of this picture.  Don’t even ask Jeff.

Yes, there are a lot of “liquids” in the picture above.  It was Cinco de Drinco!!
