Out and back

3 miles done!

IMG_1306

Jeff and I went to the fair this morning with Danny, the girls and Shannon.  It was perfect weather to go and the pictures are coming soon.

We got home early enough that I decided to fit in a run.  This coming week is going to be a busy one and after Monday, the next opportunity for me to run wouldn’t be until Friday!

I decided to do 3 miles and finished in 36:01!  I did an out and back to C & C’s to make it 1 mile and then an out and back to Shannon’s to make it a total of 3.  On my way out to Shannon’s I was getting tired.  The walking around the fair, very little water and a slight sunburn was all adding up.  But as soon as I turned around, my legs could tell they were headed home and felt good.  I sprinted at the end but not fast enough to break the 36 min time.  Next time though!

Race Photos

The official race photos for the Disneyland 5k became available this week.  Apparently I’m not very photogenic when I run.

149 Action

Jeff however looks pretty good.  Rude.

We were able to catch the photographers multiple times on the course and at the very end of the run.

We had so much fun that day!  I better start working on my posing for next year!

Labor Day Fun

A Labor Day filled with friends and family = a Labor Day of FUN!

This year we decided to do a low profile bbq with family and friends.  We planned for an early lunch to allow for me to go to sleep early everyone to get home early for work the next day.

Jeff got up early with our neighbor, James, to start working on their big project of the day – smoking some tri tip.  Our other neighbor friends, Nate and Vanessa, also have a smoker and ended up using theirs as well.  The motorcourt smelled so good, just like the fair!

Danny, the girls and my dad were the first to arrive!  I think it was because I guilted Danny about not calling me back yesterday…rude.  The nieces played at our little park while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive and the food to be finished.

Kalea enjoyed riding her bike all through out the play set.

So of course Brooklyn had to try too.

Then Brooklyn showed us her 1st grade skills by first swinging with no hands.

And then by swinging as high as she could.

Once Hailey, Noelle and C & C arrived, we moved the party inside, it was getting hot!

We ate our delicious lunch, but sadly I have no pictures!  I always forget to take pictures of our yummy meals…sorry Jeff!  We had brauts, hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon and honey dew, chips and dip and the yummy tri tip!

Jeff & James’ tri tip turned out pretty good for the first time using the smoker.  I think Jeff may be hooked on using it!

To burn off some energy, the girls ventured outside into the heat to play with some sidewalk chalk.  Don’t Kalea and Hailey look so cute, like they are putting their little heads together to come up with some elaborate artistic expression?

Nope, just Hailey killing a bug and Kalea watching.  LOL.

After acting Godzilla to the spider, Hailey tried out the tricycle.

And promptly got tired of it and dragged it back to the garage.

Our neighbor has a pet snake that Jeff brought out for the girls to see.  Hailey was all about petting it, but Kalea and Brooklyn chose to view from a distance.

I don’t remember what Noelle was doing but I love this picture!  Yay for 2nd sisters!!

It was a fun day!  I always think of Labor Day as the official “last day of summer.”  While the heat sticks around to sometimes October, I’m already looking forward to some of our favorite Fall/Winter traditions.

Countdown to Christmas anyone???

Minus 10 inches

My hair had been getting long so I decided to let it grow out to donate.

10 inches later…

It is SHORT!  Shorter than I’m used to but my hair grows out relatively fast.  Now all I need to do is mail my hair to Locks of Love.  Smile

Oceanside

After our 5k run yesterday, Jeff and I headed south to Oceanside to visit my Uncle and Aunt.  They have a condo down there and were hanging out there for the weekend.

It was easy to find and we got there pretty quickly after our run.  Their association has beautiful landscaping!  It looks like their condo is in a mini version of Hawaii.  They had koi fish and waterfalls, all in their community!!

The weather was nice so once Jeff and I showered we all walked towards the beach.

The little restaurant area we passed was so cute.  They had a ton of places to eat at and even shave ice for dessert!

We made our way down to the beach and then turned back and headed back to the condo.  I was a little tired from our 4:30 am wake up call so I took a nap while Jeff and the rest went down to the beach to hang out.

Once everyone came back, Uncle Tim and Aunt Bernice cooked up some steak, veggies and rice for a dinner on their balcony.  It was so good and we enjoyed it while the sun set.  We ended up leaving soon after.

We had a lot of fun and Jeff is already planning on when he can make another trip out there.  (Jeff and his plans!! Smile)  Maybe next time we can walk to the pier!
