Knives & Lipsticks

Another niecie evening!  On Thursday C & C wanted one extra night to get the house ready for move day.

IMG_0452

After some searching through Kalea’s toy bin, Hailey found a couple of things to entertain herself with.  A knife and a dragon.  (The knife is a toy knife.)

IMG_0459

First she practiced her knife wielding skills on the dragon.

IMG_0454

Then she practiced them on Shannon.

While Noelle just sat and looked cute.

After awhile, Hailey abandoned her knife and disappeared.  I had an idea where she’d be and sure enough, she was trying to hide in the pillows on our bed.

IMG_0464

Because she had one of my “lipsticks”.

Now I know what happened to our chapstick last week when it was half mushed.  Smile

give thanks in all circumstances

I’m a big believer that God has a plan for my life and everything that happens, is His will.  It’s funny when in times of confusion, He gives you a sign that He’s there for you.

I was emailing the contact person for the Wet N Wild 5k at the Wild Rivers Waterpark in Irvine, inquiring if they still needed volunteers.

When I received an email back advising yes, volunteers were still needed, I noticed the below scripture included in the signature. image

It was like God was giving me a hug and telling me to hang in there.

Thank you Ms. Ruder for including that little pick me up in your email.  You will probably never know it lifted my spirits, but thank you all the same.

The time I almost threw up on my run

Yep, that happened.  Today.

We set out to do a 3 mile run.  Everything was going fine until about 2.25 into the run.  I took a deep breath in…from my mouth…and proceeded to inhale a very large gnat.

I immediately came to a halt and started coughing/gagging to get it back up.  I could feel it stuck to the back of my throat and finally after my eyes started watering, it came out.

Unfortunately by then, my mind had solidly implanted the feeling of that bug in my throat and I started to dry heave.  Like 7 times.

Thankfully I was able to recover and we finished our run.

It was very gross.

Moral of the story, breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Lazy Dog

Chloe has lots of places she likes to relax.

Sweet Abby

This is my cousin’s puppy, Abby.

Abby was a crazy dog.  She would bark at people when they jumped in the pool, run through everyone’s legs when we would have barbeques and was all around a sweet puppy.

Unfortunately poor Abby became very sick and passed away today.  My heart goes out to my cousins, aunt and uncle.  It’s never easy to lose a pet, especially when it’s sudden.

Hugs and kisses Abby, you will be missed!!

Countdown

Yesterday evening, Jeff and I made plans to get up early and head to the Happiest Place on Earth.  Our annual passport expiration date is coming up and we decided not to renew right away.  That means…lots of last minute trips!!  Let the countdown begin!

We got there just after 8 am and headed straight to Star Tours.  The fast pass time was already too late so Jeff and I decided to jump in the stand by line for the 40 minute wait.

IMG_0442

This was my first time on since they revamped the ride and Jeff’s 3rd time.  We had heard that there were around 50 different 3D versions of the ride.  Jeff was able to confirm that there were at least 3 different versions!  Smile

After Star Tours, we headed over to Space Mountain and grabbed a fast pass for later.

Next up, Indiana Jones.

IMG_0421

We were in line for maybe 5 minutes before the ride went down.  Ugh, this ride ALWAYS goes down.  We decided not to waste time waiting for it to come back up, and headed over to Pirates.

IMG_0424

I love the inside of Pirates, right when we ride by the Blue Bayou.  I wanted to take a picture but also abide by the “no flash photography” rules…didn’t turn out so good.

Next up, the other guaranteed short wait ride.  We practically walked right on.

IMG_0435

By now it was time for our fast pass return.

We decided to cut our day to a short one and made the monorail our last stop for the day.  I love how it’s right above the Nemo ride.  We watched the riders get on and off while we were waiting for the next monorail.

My baby niece

My baby niece is the rough and tumble niece.  She’s the one that’s going to grow up and be way too mature for the other kids her age.  She’s going to be able to hang with the boys and slide into home like it was her J-O-B.

To demonstrate how “tough” she is, she was playing with her toy and decided to head butt it.  C’mon!  That toy needed to be showed who was boss.

The results…a nice little shiner on the side of her face.  You can see it a little in the below picture.

IMG_0419

She did it right in front of me.  One second she’s fine.  The next she is smacking her head on Barbie’s house.  (Guess that Barbie is just TOO peppy for her!).  I almost cried when I first saw it and then tried to ice it immediately after.

But Miss Rough and Tumble was hardly phased.  She kept going on her merry way.

IMG_0414

IMG_0415

Next time niecie, maybe just tell me if a toy is in your way and I’ll move it.  No need to head butt it during a moment of frustration.

Someone else who wasn’t phased?  Chloe slept most of the afternoon.  Smile

Assuming the position

Chloe is typically an happy and easygoing puppy.  There are only a few things she doesn’t care for.

  1. Brushing out her fur.
  2. Cleaning her ears.

And her newest dislike, spraying allergy medicine on her paws.

The last time we went to the vet, she noticed that Chloe’s paws were turning brown-orange from her constant licking.  She recommended some allergy spray since it appeared Chloe is having a reaction to something outside.

We sprayed her paws the first time and she was fine.  The next time, she assumed the position.

IMG_0409

Whenever Chloe is “asked” to do something she does not want to, she will roll over on her side, lift her legs and look away from you.

What a DIVA.

Locked Out

Tuesday afternoon Jeff received a call from our friend James.

Apparently his two year old son, Cole, decided it would be a good joke to lock James out of the house on the upstairs balcony.  Luckily James had his cell phone on him to call for help!

IMG_0408

And of course, being the blogger wife, I made Jeff take a picture before he unlocked the door!

Happy Birthday Libby!

DJ_P_3077[2][1]

Jeff’s mom celebrated her birthday last Tuesday.  Unfortunately I was wandering around Chicago that day and did not have time for a shout out.

To celebrate her birthday in style, Jeff and I went up to the mountains for a visit this last weekend.  As soon as we started to go up the mountain, we got stuck behind a fire truck responding to a call.  Eventually it pulled over to allow traffic to pass but we never say anything that would require a fire truck.  Weird.

IMG_20110717_121320

It was a beautiful view for the rest of drive up.

When we got there Libby showed us how she feeds her blue jays.  She lines up peanuts on her balcony rail and they come swooping in to get them.

After marveling at the nature in her backyard, we headed to Arrowhead for some lunch.  The restaurant was right on the waterfront and had wonderful weather.

Jeff ordered the club sandwich with their specialty onion rings.

I got the shrimp po’boy which was delish!

IMG_20110717_135607

We walked around for a bit and bought some treats for Chloe.

IMG_20110717_144118

After relaxing at Libby’s house we headed down the mountain.
