Club 33

I love Disneyland during the holidays!!

IMG_0461

My work has a membership to Club 33 which allows us access to the restaurant in Disneyland!  The terms are changing next year so we decided to go one more time.

We decided to head to California Adventure first to check out the new Cars Land.

The ride was packed so Jeff and I decided to skip it this time and catch everything else.  It was a pretty empty Saturday morning so the most we had to wait was like 20 minutes.

We made our way over to Disneyland after finishing at CA.

I love all the holiday decorations, especially the castle.

Around 11:00 we made our way to New Orleans for our reservations.

Club 33 offers a lunch menu of about 6 courses (including crab stuffed lobster, filet mignon, salmon) and then an appetizer all you can eat bar.  My appetizer plate…

IMG_0465

Jeff had three times my plate.  Smile For my entrée I had the chateaubriand, so good!

IMG_0466

And Jeff had the salmon with gnocchi.

IMG_0468

There is also a dessert bar.  I got the cookie, mini éclair and pumpkin cheesecake pop < the best of the three.

IMG_0469

After lunch we went out onto the balcony for some pictures.

NHRA Finals 2012

We stayed until the final car drove down the track on Sunday!

IMG_0434

Literally the Top Fuel Championship went down to the last race…it was really exciting!

We got to the Fairplex around 9am and headed in close to 10am.  We caught the traditional sky jumper who started the events.

IMG_0390

IMG_0391

It was great weather, no clouds and cool all day long.  While all the events are fun to watch, my favorite are the funny cars.  Below is Courtney Force during her burn out.  This is her rookie year as a funny car driver and she did awesome!

IMG_0398

She ended up going all the way to the finals but lost.  Not bad for her first year!  I tried to get a picture of her car when she drove back to her pit but unfortunately it was the exact same moment this guy decided to stand up.

IMG_0401

IMG_0417

In between rounds we either walked back to the car or around the pits.  This year we saw a couple of non-drag racing famous faces.  The guy from one of those storage shows.

IMG_0412

And man whore chopper enthusiast, Jesse James.  Doesn’t he look so happy to be famous?

IMG_0424

In between the final rounds many of the teams start to pack up.  It’s crazy that they put the race car on a top shelf in a semi and have most of the below area for additional storage.

IMG_0418

IMG_0419

By the time we were waiting for the final round, the sun had started to set and it was getting cold!

IMG_0428

The Top Fuel Championship was down to the very last race.  Antron Brown was the points leader but got out during his first round.  The only way he could win was if Tony Schumacher (who has won like the last 8 years) lost.  Jeff and I are big AB fans (and not so much TS fans) so we were so excited that TS lost during the final round, making Antron Brown the Top Fuel Champ for 2012!

A great way to end the night and the season!!

SCHM Training: Week 4

I’m back!!  After a full week of traveling, I’m glad to be home.  We have been having some perfect fall weather here and I love it!  There is actually snow on the mountains but the clouds are obscuring it.

IMG_0385

Today marked week 4 of Surf City Half Marathon training and a scheduled 6 miles.  We’ve been deciding it was time to start venturing out of our neighborhood for these longer runs & also incorporating some hills to prep.  Today we headed out to Corona for a bike path that was long with some baby rolling hills.

SPOILER ALERT: We did not run 6 miles…

IMG_0389

We ran (mostly) 7 miles!!

image

A new PDR that left me very close to dry heaving after the final hill.  That rounds the week out with Run #1 – 3.5 miles, Run #2 – Skipped (traveling really messed me up this week), Run #3 – 7 miles which makes the Total Weekly Miles = 10.5.

The next part is just some notes to help me with our next long run…skip it.  Trust me.

We woke up at 7am and headed out the door by 8am.  Only some sips of water, no food.  Made it to the trail and started running around 8:30am.

Miles 1 & 2 ran entirely – on time target.  Some minor cramping in calves/shins.  Ate 2 pink lemonade Honey Stingers since stomach was growling.

Miles 3-5 did planned walk/run.  Walked 0.1, ran 0.9 miles.  Felt actually good for miles 4 & 5.  Ate the last HS at mile 4?

Miles 5.2-6.85 were mentally tough.  I started walking more at 5.2 and hip flexors started to hurt.  Thirsty but didn’t want to drink too much water, no more fuel – just bad.

Mile 6.85 seriously a second wind that made all right in the world.  Killed it the last uphill and finished at top for 7 miles.

Only took in about 4 ounces of water (too little) and a total of 3 honey stingers (not enough).

See I told you, you should have just skipped that last part…

My First Stitch Fix

While I was sleeping here…

2012-10-31_19-30-26_319

My first Stitch Fix arrived!  Yay!

IMG_0379

I first heard about Stitch Fix from this gal.  Here’s how it works…as often as you want, Stitch Fix will send you a wardrobe “fix” consisting of 5 items.  You receive your items and have the luxury of trying them on at home, with your existing wardrobe.  You keep what you want, and return the rest – on them!  They even include a pre-paid return envelope.

How do they know what you would like?  Before your fix, you fill out a detailed questionnaire to help your personal stylist determine what would work with you.  Each fix costs $20 but the fee goes towards any purchase you make.

So without further ado, here’s what was in my box!

IMG_0382IMG_0383IMG_0384

I really liked the dress on the left but it just didn’t fit.  The two tops were also a pass.  It’s funny that a majority of my fix were dark items.  The one item I ended up keeping…

2012-11-03_21-46-10_283

I love the color!  And that SF sends a card with 2 styling options using the top.

There was also a necklace included in the shipment that I waffled on keeping or returning.  But I didn’t LOVE it so back in the box it went.

Verdict?  I’d definitely give it a second go!

If you are interested…the website is still in beta form so use the below invite.

YOU’RE INVITED!!

As a welcome home treat Jeff found a new cupcake place that was featured on Cupcake Wars.

Happy Halloween!

I know I’m a few days late but I just got back into town late last night.  Unfortunately I missed Halloween at our home, so here are pictures from everyone else.

Jeff and the neighbors did the same set up as last year.  Just minus the TV this time.

The older nieces spent it with their mom, but looked cute doing so!  (Brooky is a character from a show called Monster High.)
