Haunted Hike - The Not So Tame Version

So I was looking through the Chino/Chino Hills Rec Flyer and found a Haunted Hike at the McCoy Equistrian Center.  It had 2 versions, a tame version for kiddies under 12 and a scary version that started later in the evening.  I guess my idea of a tame version is quite different than McCoy's.  Let's start from the beginning though.

We (Shannon, Brooklyn, Kalea and myself) arrived a little after 6pm and were greeted with a very long, slow moving line.  Around 7:30pm we finally made it to the front of the line to check in.  We were given a map and a glow necklace (not working) and escorted to the waiting area to watch a bit of Nightmare Before Christmas.  Soon after, our group was called and we were greeted by our guide.  Mind you, the lights all around us were on.

I should probably mention that when it said Haunted Hike-Tame Version in the flyer, I was thinking a trail with some hay stacks, jack-o-lanterns, maybe some witches and cobwebs.  Um, not so much.

The theme of the hike was different movie sets.  The first "set" we walked through was a swamp set.  There were large reeds and as we walked by, some men jumped out and started walking towards our group.  It was pretty dark and only our guide had a flashlight.  Kalea by then, was already being carried and declaring everything SCARY!  I don't blame the kid.  At one point a lady all in black came by asking the girls if anyone had seen her daughter.  I very sternly advised her not to talk to my nieces.

After that, we walked to the pirate set-tame and well lit.  Next however was not what I would call tame.  We walked into a set of oh...a mental hospital where all the doctors were covered in blood.  Yeah, I covered Brooklyn's eyes and pushed her through it giving the volunteers very dirty looks.

Our last set was a field with a bunch of people standing in the middle.  I thought we were going to walk around it but oh no, we walked through them.  I was at first telling Kalea they were doing yoga, until they started zombie walking towards us.  Again the Aunty in me came out and I again sternly told a young man to not touch my niece as he walked towards us with his hands raised.  He instead made a sudden turn and ran into my purse.  Smart young man.

This pretty much concluded our hike.  As we were exiting, the girls were given a button that said Haunted Hike.  Yeah, thanks McCoy's, that button is really going to comfort my nieces when they go to sleep tonight.  Sorry Danny!  We thought it was going to be all pumpkins and scarecrows!

Not many pictures as I was either carrying one niece or shielding and shuffling the other.
