Jeff and my favorite sushi place is pretty kid friendly if you go early enough. There are other families there with kids so you never feel too bad if your kid emits a random shout.
Don’t let her fool you, she only slept for like ten minutes.
We met CCHN there. Kenzie enjoyed some edam me while she waited for them. Love that she knows how to eat them!
Once her cousins showed up, Kenzie’s volume increases dramatically. She loves her Hailey!
And later, Jeff took this. He’s lucky my monkey didn’t bump her head!
Because of the large group spilling into Chad’s tent site, we decided to have smores on Danny’s now empty campsite. We put our red tablecloth on the table and enjoyed our last night of camping.
Like I mentioned, it was another noisy night, so Danny and his girls had moved into my Dad’s cabin around 1am. Only CCHN were in their tent through the night.
Just before 6am, I heard some loud noises outside and commotion. I crawled over Jeff to our window but because I didn’t have my glasses on I couldn’t see much. My first thought was bears or someone stealing an ice chest. Jeff jumped out of bed and by the time we ran outside, others were out there too. It became apparent that a very large tree branch had fallen on some tents.
The branch actually fell in Daniel’s campsite. That table was the one we sat on just hours before. That’s our red table cloth. Had Danny not made the decision to move his tent to Chad’s spot, he and his girls would have been severely injured.
There was one injured person, a boy from the reunion group. He had serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Jeff helped the bandage the boy’s cuts and then the ambulance soon arrived. Once they had left, the park quickly called someone to remove the entire tree.
It was disappointing how the park handled this accident. They made no apologies for the impact the tree made. No acknowledgment that one of our family members could have also been very hurt that morning. It was truly God watching over our family that day. I would hate to think what would have happened had not Daniel moved his tent.
On our last full day camping, we made sure we just stayed at the campground to enjoy our day. Kenzie woke up early to confiscate Kalea’s stick.
On of my favorite things about vacationing with our nieces is that both girls love being around them. Brooklyn is so good with Avery and Avery loved hanging out with her!
Yes, that would be an Oreo for breakfast.
Once the girls woke up from their naps, we headed to my favorite place in Three Rivers. The candy and ice cream store. This store has been around since before I was born. It’s a Solano tradition to visit everytime we are there.
Before we knew it, our day was over and it was time for bedtime.
It was unfortunately another loud night for Danny and Chad’s tents. Danny and his girls actually ended up in my Dad’s room around 1am since it was so loud. It was really disappointing that the reunion group was not considerate at all. Thankfully in our cabin, we heard none of it and both girls slept peacefully.
One of the nice things about visiting the Three Rivers is that it’s very close to Sequoia National Park. Crystal wanted to visit so we packed up half our party and went for the drive.
We pulled over a couple of places to take in the view. It was in the high 90’s at the campground but as we continued to climb the temperature continued to drop.
You can tell you are getting closer to the middle of the park when the trees start to get huge!
We arrived at the entrance to Sherman Tree Trail. It was a short walk to the General Sherman tree.
They weren’t supposed to climb on that big rock…oops!
The hike in isn’t too bad since it’s all down hill.
On our way out, there was a bear maybe 100 feet away. Jeff tried to get a picture of it, but by then it had started to walk away. Unfortunately some people jumped the fence to follow it.
While we were on our hike, Bean stayed back with Aunty Shannon. I’d say she was pretty good for her Aunty.
Shannon was even able to take a video of our cabin while Bean was knocked out.
And then later that evening…knocked out again.
Since the prior night, the reunion group was so loud, Danny decided to move his tent to Chad’s spot on the other side of the group. Unfortunately the group just continued to grow as the weekend arrived. The group was up till 1am in the morning talking and laughing. Apparently the 10pm quiet time was not enforced at all.
