Happy 1st Birthday Cody!

Baby Cody rang in the New Year by celebrating his 1st birthday on 1-1-11!

His mommy threw him a basketball themed party and decorated the house with everything basketballs.  We all sat down to eat lunch and enjoyed some ham, potato salad, mac n cheese, rolls and baked beans.  When Jeff grabbed his plate he randomly turned it over and saw a #1 on the bottom of his plate.  We joked he probably won something.

Sure enough, during lunch they told everyone to look at the bottom of their plates and the two people who had a 1 or a 57 were winners.  Coincidentally, Jeff and his Aunt Holly were the winners.  (57 is how old Bob, Cody’s grandpa turned recently-it was a dual party!)

After lunch we moved on to cake.

It was so cute and SO DELICIOUS!  The bottom portion was white cake with raspberry filling and the basketball was red velvet with cream cheese filling.  I’ve never had a better red velvet!

The top of the basketball was cut off and given to Cody to enjoy.  He put both hands in…

and promptly began to cry!  You could tell he wasn’t too happy with the icing on his hands.  That is, until his mommy gave him some to taste.  He was on board then!

Resolutions

2010 was an awesome year, but we have a lot of fun things coming up in 2011.

I decided to make some small resolutions so no tears will be shed if they aren’t met.  Here they are in no particular order:

1.  Complete my first 5k before I turn 30.  There are 2 upcoming races that are prospects.

2.  Pay off more of our debt.  We are making progress and want to continue.

3.  Read the Bible more.  I struggle to put aside quality time to read and really want to work on this.

4.  Race at Disneyland.  Either the 5k or Half Marathon…still deciding.

5.  Attend church more regularly.

6.  Come up with and stick to a cleaning schedule.  Our house is generally a wreck and takes forever to get ready for company.

7.  Get healthy.  By exercising and eating right.  This is a must in order to…

8.  Discuss expanding our family.  Don’t get stressed Jeff, I just said discuss it.

9.  Stick to our new budget.  It’s a little tight but definitely doable.

10.  Have fun and make lots of memories.  Even if I don’t complete any of the above resolutions, I know this one will be completed by the end of 2011.

Stay tuned, we have a lot coming up!

Happy New Year!

Even though we had a late bedtime, I still woke up relatively early (7:30am) and was ready to celebrate.  My husband, however, was not.  But he was a trooper and got up to make breakfast.

Shortly after breakfast, okay-closer to midday, I put on my running clothes and went on a solo jog.  Jeff chose to nap.  Winking smile  (BTW, I cannot figure out how to make my emoticons smaller so they don’t put an extra space in my text.  Driving me crazy!)  I jogged another sub 12 min/mile and Jeff and I move on to longer distances next week.  Shout out to my mom who ran 3 miles this morning after taking more than a year off!  Epic!

After we tidied up a bit, the family began to arrive.

While Noellie chowed down, the three older nieces went upstairs to play.  We were telling the girls to say “cheese” and Hailey all of a sudden put her hands up to her face to pose.  She looks soooo cute in the pictures.  But almost stealing her moment, is Kalea.  I love how she shifts her eyes sideways to look at her younger cousin as if to say, “WHAT???”

Jeff and Danny did a great job cooking for all of us and made some of our traditional New Years Day fare.  These are just the leftovers, I forgot to snap the picture before we dug in.

Since the family was together, we celebrated Chad’s birthday 2 days early.  He had requested a specific cake from J & J Bakery and his wife delivered!  It’s an angel food cake base with a whip cream frosting and a bunch of fresh fruit in and on top of the cake.  This is so good and was perfect after eating such a big feast.  Light and fluffy!

After the food, the girlies had fun entertaining themselves while the boys played video games.

Hailey pretending to be a puppy, chased Chloe all around the house.  By the end of the evening, Chloe was hiding next to Jeff on the couch.  Poor Chloe.

Jeff had bought everyone head flashlights and the girls especially enjoyed wearing them.

Ring around the roses…Hailey has been singing this at her home ever since Christmas Eve.

Ringing in the New Year

Goodbye 2010…Hello 2011!

This year has gone by so quick.  We celebrated by heading over to our neighbors and enjoy some pizza and beer.  The boys played Cornhole in the courtyard while the ladies stayed in doors to chat.

The nieces came over to ring in the new year and bundled up to stay warm in the 40 degree weather.

When the clock read 11:58pm, Jeff and Danny came in watch the countdown.
