A Labor Day filled with friends and family = a Labor Day of FUN!
This year we decided to do a low profile bbq with family and friends. We planned for an early lunch to allow for me to go to sleep early everyone to get home early for work the next day.
Jeff got up early with our neighbor, James, to start working on their big project of the day – smoking some tri tip. Our other neighbor friends, Nate and Vanessa, also have a smoker and ended up using theirs as well. The motorcourt smelled so good, just like the fair!
Danny, the girls and my dad were the first to arrive! I think it was because I guilted Danny about not calling me back yesterday…rude. The nieces played at our little park while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive and the food to be finished.
Kalea enjoyed riding her bike all through out the play set.
So of course Brooklyn had to try too.
Then Brooklyn showed us her 1st grade skills by first swinging with no hands.
And then by swinging as high as she could.
Once Hailey, Noelle and C & C arrived, we moved the party inside, it was getting hot!
We ate our delicious lunch, but sadly I have no pictures! I always forget to take pictures of our yummy meals…sorry Jeff! We had brauts, hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon and honey dew, chips and dip and the yummy tri tip!
Jeff & James’ tri tip turned out pretty good for the first time using the smoker. I think Jeff may be hooked on using it!
To burn off some energy, the girls ventured outside into the heat to play with some sidewalk chalk. Don’t Kalea and Hailey look so cute, like they are putting their little heads together to come up with some elaborate artistic expression?
Nope, just Hailey killing a bug and Kalea watching. LOL.
After acting Godzilla to the spider, Hailey tried out the tricycle.
And promptly got tired of it and dragged it back to the garage.
Our neighbor has a pet snake that Jeff brought out for the girls to see. Hailey was all about petting it, but Kalea and Brooklyn chose to view from a distance.
I don’t remember what Noelle was doing but I love this picture! Yay for 2nd sisters!!
It was a fun day! I always think of Labor Day as the official “last day of summer.” While the heat sticks around to sometimes October, I’m already looking forward to some of our favorite Fall/Winter traditions.
Countdown to Christmas anyone???
